2 Ways to Colour a Card and Purple Onion Designs Sale

Here I have a couple of cards, that are basically the same but different. The main image stays the same but I decided to switch up the card stock, colouring medium and ink blending. It is also the last few days of Purple Onion Designs 25% off Holiday Sale. I have all the details on the sale at the end of the blog.

Get the look:

  • In order to get the 2 different looks I chose to stamp on Neenah Solar White and Neenah Desert Storm card stock.

  • Each of the cards follows the same basic steps with some minor differences, such as the colouring medium and ink blending ink.

  • Position, stamp and mask the stamp Milo and Lucy.

  • Create a mask out of a large snowflake die and lay the negative piece of the mask over the masked cats. Now you have a double mask.

  • Ink blend over the masked cats with distress ink and distress oxide. Now I like to ink blend my backgrounds before I start my colouring. My thinking is that I’d rather mess up now than after I’ve spent lots of time colouring.

  • After ink blending stamp a word background stamp over top.

  • For the card that is on Neenah Solar White I chose to colour with Copic markers and use original distress inks spun sugar, kitsch flamingo and shaded lilac.

  • For the card that is on Neenah Desert Storm I chose to colour with pencils and use distress oxides in kitsch flamingo and blueprint sketch.

  • I think the softer creamier look of the Oxides works well with the pencils and love the brightness of the regular distress inks with Copics.

  • For the sentiments “Warm Wishes” I pulled from my little bowl of already made sentiments. This one happens to be my first venture into hot foiling. “Stay Warm” sentiment was heat embossed from the Furry Friends sentiment set

  • To finish up the cards I chose to make them 2 different shapes. Die cut the Kraft and Pencil Crayons into a circle, added a snow hill out of glitter and snow with a white gel pen. Die cut the white card stock with a hexagon and matted it with a slightly large black hexagon.
