LDRS: Dahlia See Through Card

Having made so many wintery cards over the past few months, I thought I would change direction and create something a little bit springy. Todays card features the Dahlia stamp set and Modern Geometric Coverplates I & III. Since I’ve received this set of gorgeous Modern Geometric Coverplates I have been wanting to make a see through card with them. The question was do I use 1, 2 or all 3 of them. In the end I decided on coverplates I & III

Instead of picking out my usual colours for colouring in the flower I decided to take a look around the internet to see what colours Dahlias come in. Surprisingly Dahlias come in a huge variety of colours. This image caught my attention and I decided to give this beautiful colour combination a try. Well, I tried…. mine turned out quite a bit more muted, but pretty all the same.

Get the Look:

Die cut 1, 2 or 3 of the Modern Geometric Coverplates, layer and glue together the combination you’ve chosen for your see through layer.
Take an A2 card base and cut the front panel down so only 1/4” flap remains at the top. This 1/4” flap is the same size as the border surrounding the Modern Geometric Coverplates. Using a strong adhesive adhere the Modern Geometric Coverplates panel to the A2 card base flap.
Stamp and colour the Dahlia flower with your preferred method of colouring. I choose to use alcohol markers, but watercolours would look really beautiful aswell.
Die cut Dahlia with co-ordinating dies. Also die cut 2-4 few extra Dahlia pieces. Optionally layer up 2 of the die cuts with the coloured flower to give the stamped image some depth. The other 2 pieces put aside for moment.
Using the Happy Me, Happy You stamp set, stamp and heat emboss. Then with the Sentiment Stack Die II die cut out the sentiments, pick and adhere a sentiment over the Dahlia.
Now to clean up the inside of the card base. Take the remaining 2 die cut Dahlia pieces; line one up and adhere on the inside of the front panel to cover the back of the coloured Dahlia, line 2nd one up with 1st one and adhere to back panel for a spot to write on. (see image).
