YNS Challenge #150: Midnight

The new challenge at Your Next Stamp is ‘Midnight’. So I immediately think spooky Halloween, but generally I am not a huge Halloween card maker. (I tend to skip it and jump straight into Christmas card making). But somehow I couldn’t let this theme go by without making a spooky night scene with a few cute monsters hanging out. So does midnight mean creepy, spooky halloween to you or perhaps a beautiful moonlite fall harvest, or even a winter snowy night. Can’t wait to see what you create.

Get the Look:

  • There are 2 main elements to this card. Creating a blended ink background and adhering elements overtop of the background.

  • BACKGROUND: Using a die cut circle, mask off the corner of the card for the moon. Blend distress oxide inks in Milled Lavender, Seedless Preserves, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot. Blend outwards off of the moon, radiating out to the other side of the card stock getting darker as you go.

  • Remove moon mask and blend Copic Markers V93 and V91 from the edge of the moon towards middle. Then go all over the moon with the colourless blender, blending towards the centre. This gives it the mottled texture.

  • ELEMENTS: Choose your monsters to stamp and colour from the Silly Trash Monster set. So many great ones to pick from. Fussy cut monsters.

  • Die cut the trash can out of a metallic card stock. Also die cut it out of black card stock to create the shadow pieces of the trash can.

  • Finally die cut tree and grass out of black card stock. Stamp sentiment on black grass with Milled Lavender Distress Oxide and then clear heat emboss. The Milled Lavender Oxide shows up on the black cards stock but it isn’t as bright as white embossing so it gives it a ghostly look.

  • Layout and adhere all the pieces on to the blended ink background.

  • Adhere to a black card base.
